Ma'sai

The Ma'sai throw the bodies of their dead out of the village onto the plain, where the first predator, usually a hyena but sometimes a jackal get it. They regard the body as unimportant.

What IS important is the spirit, which goes to "the other place which is always nearby". No matter where they move the village, "the other place" is always nearby.

There is something comforting and attractive about that. If I ever go back to Africa I want to learn more about Ma'sai culture and beliefs.
