Lindex is a virtual market exchange index that measures the current exchange between a First Life Currency and the Second Life Linden Currency.
It's not considered gambling because you are not betting on any game.
But I wonder what would IRS do... they most likely don't even know about this.

here, you have to file a 1040SL form for incomes form Second Life lol
