Streatchen it Boss - streatchen it (Cool Hand Luke).

I agree that this can be stretched thin but I still think it’s a valid point. Let me summarize what I thought to be true right after 911, right after we invaded Iraq, and now.

Right after 911 I was sure that the Taliban was responsible for the attack and when I heard reports of a helicopter firing on Kabul I was glad to hear it thinking that we were on the attack that quickly. I was wrong on that. The helicopter was part of the intertribal war going on we had not attacked yet. When we did attack I was glad that we were sending a strong message that if you harbor terrorists you stand a good chance of losing your country. I still think this a good idea.

Right after we invaded Iraq I was sure that we were averting disaster because of the WMD under control of the Iraq regime. I still think that if we had not attacked that by now Iraq might be on the verge of having nuclear weapons. Then after WMD we were told it was regime change we were doing. Then it was to give democracy a chance in the Middle East, and now it is because we are ‘fighting them there so that we won’t have to fight them here’. Along the way I heard that they were fighting us because they hated our democracy or our tolerance of woman or tolerance of homosexuals or (on and on).

Now I submit that it is all a crock of crap and that who we are fighting are groups of loosely confederated people who simply hate us because we invaded their country and yes they will use weapons where ever they find them even in Iran. Of course there may be some rudimentary command and control set up by the few, very few, Al Qaeda in Iraq but I think if we could kill each and every Al Qaeda member in Iraq we would have the same problem still.

We are hated because we are there. It’s that simple.

We need to leave – NOW.
