Why are the aliens so behind the times in terms of interstellar flight
technology? And so sloppy when it comes to trying to stay out of
our sight? Or are we just so primitive to them that they don't care
if we see them because they figure it won't have any effect, no
Star Trek Prime Directive of Non-Interference kind of thing?

Haven't these guys developed nanotechnology by now? Why do
they need such big ships and why are these presumably organic
beings piloting it themselves, rather than the ships being run by
some kind of artilect?
