I grew up the same way and I certainly can see the viewpoint. Unfortunately, as the world has gotten more crowded with people rubbing up against each other, some of the protections that we did have as a child got waylaid and so the "nanny state" took over. If an adult male tried to put his hands on me (a teenager), all I had to do was tell my Dad and that male would never look sideways at me again. Now, the sorry SOB who tried to seduce me would sue my father and put out nasty rumors about me. The world has changed and everything is topsy turvy. There used to be boundaries you didn't cross or you'd pay the price. Somewhere either those boundaries became fuzzy or the suit happy populace walked all over them. And the victim has ended up paying the price.
