Shuttle Launch Viewing Locations

Hey Everyone,

As we wind down to the supposed last shuttle launch circa 2010, I'm starting to plan a trip to watch one of the final launches. I've never seen a shuttle launch yet, and it's my adamant vow to watch a launch before I lose the chance. I know it's early, "plenty of time left", but, for me, this is one of those "hafta' do it while I have the chance" things, so I'm starting my planning early.

I'll have my vacation use/lose for vacation maxed so I'll have about 8 weeks for delays, etc. Of course, I plan to get to Florida (I live in Sacramento) and rent an RV and plant myself at a good viewing location a couple of days early (like everyone else that wants to see a shuttle launch.) But I've never been to Florida, and don't know what to expect with the crowds and the lay of the land. And I figure with all that vacation, if it does go up on time, then I can finally hit Disney World and get some diving in, too!

I'm sure there are people here than can give good locations to park an RV at a few days early, or give other good tips, regarding watching a launch?

Like I said, I know it's still some time to go, but this is really a big deal to me, and I'd like to get the details worked out as the times become appropriate, and before everyone else and their brothers set their plans...

Best,

MrPex
