If he wants to prevent porfit-motivated health care...

He's a century too late and more than a dollar short. He'd have to close most of the medical care services in his city and all across America. Sheesh. Those clinics just might provide needed access to some people who might not otherwise be able to get it.

You try to get in to see a doctor for an emergency; "The next open appointment is in three weeks." And that's if you're lucky! We've got Urgent Care Clinics at our Med Ctr now. I've been able to get into them where the Residents get to practice on me and I get the treatment I need for the problem of the moment. (They're supervised by an Attending Physician, of course.)

But some people can't make it into Urgent Care Clinics and they still cost about the same as an M.D. So the little clinics will take care of smaller problems, getting them out of the emergency rooms where they don't need to be but go when they can't get into their own docs.

I think we have to let these develop. They are part of the market's answer to the high cost of health care. IMO it's the market in action.
