worked perfectly,

...that first link did. Course the href="" goes nowhere in the blink of an eye.

It never ceases to amaze me how mere humans have an intuitive talent for hacking technical systems. Your second post went directly to the technique of typing multiple angle brackets to force them display, without having to experiment, as if you intuited that my message filter would work on angle brackets that followed the HTML pattern, but otherwise would make them displayable. Our monkey brains are really good at this stuff.

So, what's the "right" way to do it? There's gotta be a way to display angle bracket. Aside from the fact that the filter did, you'd just expect geeks to abhor a Catch-22. The escape hatch is to escape the characters, geek for using a special represntation of special chracters like angle brackets. To wit:

< = <
> = >

But wait! That means that the & character must be special too. What if you just wanna say "&"? Just another level down the rabbit hole:

& = &

Und so weiter, as what I typed above looked like "&" and what I typed earlier in this sentence looked like "&"....gettin dizzy yet?

But I digress about infinite regress. Now you know how to speak HTML in a post on GeekSpeak. And that's the important thing.
