Soros, 77, provided almost half the £50,000 cost of the research, which appeared in The Lancet, the medical journal. Its claim was 10 times higher than consensus estimates of the number of war dead."
{that one claimed 650,000 people were killed as a result of the invasion of Iraq.}
What bargain Soros paid to get the idiots believing such idiocy.
The article goes to say:
"...which appeared in The Lancet, the medical journal. Its claim was 10 times higher than consensus estimates of the number of war dead.
...
New research published by The New England Journal of Medicine estimates that 151,000 people - less than a quarter of The Lancet estimate - have died since the invasion in 2003."

But I should we even believe this?
Maybe, later we will get a more accurate survey showing large number of Iraqis saved as result net of war.
But regardless of surveys, we know that the US military did an outstanding job of reducing the number of civilian deaths. And just the smart bomb technology was huge improvement compared to other wars.
Another metric could seen by the relatively low US soldier causalities- one might have some rough rule of thumb that for every soldier dying in ground battle engagement 10-20 civilians are killed. With US military in Iraq this was probably a significantly lower ratio.
But it must be kept in mind that not just US soldiers are fighting and dying to bring about a more stable condition in Iraq:
US soldiers: 3922
Over 300 soldiers from Coalition Countries excluding US and Iraq
Iraq military: 7790
