Easiest way to complexity

Easiest way to complexity is through processes it seems like. Look at fractals. Very simple recursion equations generate fascinatingly complex forms. So, I guess I don't get the argument. To me it is simpler to start with a simple equation and evolve complexity, than to just generate a complex object out of whole cloth.

As far as the universe is a computer, it is just reductionist thinking about how we perceive information. Once you postulate you can't tell the difference between simulation and reality, it lets in all sort of wacky theories. Our universe could be a single thought of a superbeing. When we evolve to a next order intelligence it will be interesting as to what is resolved/not resolved in our ever expanding (philosophically) universe.
