Boeing has always been more strategic when it came to projects. Their aircrafts always made more logical sense, while Airbus seemed to have opted for the cheaper or the wow factor, but this is my personal opinion.

What I can tell is that more and more airlines are preferring a321 a320 a319 to the 737... Boeing response was the 737 NG (Next Generation) series, which is slowly picking up but has still a lot of ground to make up vs the A32x series (including a318 and a319).

The biggest advantage that Boeing has over Airbus is their military contracts and collaborations with NASA. It's going to take a while before Airbus gains the required credibility.

Yes, Boeing did some gloating about Airbus failures and I wouldn't mind some payback from Airbus now that Boeing is facing turbulence.

Right now, the aircraft builder that is gaining from the fights between the two giants is the little Brazilian based Embrearer. They are rocking and producing like crazy!!!
