You may be correct...And we know how rare that is...

Just kidding...

What kills me about the "Sub-Prime mortgage crisis" is that it has completely exposed the shell game that some mortgage companies were playing with OUR economy.

All sub-prime mortgages are supposed to be insured. Ie. If you put less than 20% down on your house you are forced to "buy" PMI (Private Mortgage Insurance). So in theory, the lender is protected against default by both the borrower and the Insurance company.

So when all these less-than-stellar mortgages go belly-up and the banks and other financial "Institutions?" scream...Why exactly should the US taxpayer bail the bastards out?

The only answer? Because they can give lots of money to the re-election campaigns of out friendly politicians.

So write your politician and ask them why you are forced to pay for PMI insurance when it doesn't insure you, and apparently it also doesn't insure your bank...Just who takes that money?

I know the answer, but let your Senator's and Congressment make up an answer for you.
