John Stewart, leader of the Kingston Trio died. I saw the Kingston Trio live in 1964 when I was a Freshman at Pittsburg State University (Kansas). One of the most fun concerts I've ever had the pleasure of attending. I had forgotten he wrote Daydream Believer. http://news.aol.com/entertainment/music/music-news-story/ar/_a/daydream-believer-songwriter-dies/20080120101809990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

If you play the video in the news story, you'll hear the Monkees' recording of Daydream Believer and see probably the worst case of lip-syncing ever recorded. I loved the Monkees and their show was a hoot. For not being a musical group, they certainly made their own mark. I still sing two lines from one of their songs frequently, "What am I doing hangin' 'round? I should be on that train and gone; I should be on my way to San Antone; what am I doin' hangin' round?" OK, that was 4 lines but I do the first two at work sometimes.

RIP, John Stewart. You were a talented individual and the world was a better place for your having been in it.
