The only farm subsidies given should be those related to soil conservation (Such as low interest loans and grants to build terraces, water retention ponds, etc...)
Many farm programs however, do the opposite: Encouraging the planting of crops on every last acre of ground, usage of groundwater to grow crops in areas where they would not otherwise grow, and in short, subsidizing inefficient farms.
