Of course

Everything is the fault of the USA - even during the Cold War regarding a
secret Soviet military satellite. As I recall, we had trouble predicting its demise
until about the end.

What did Pierre expect us to do, get a really big net and throw it across
the provinces?

We had trouble predicting Skylab to the end, and that was one of our own.
AS I recall, it killed a rabbit in the Australian Outback. Damn USA rabbit killers!

75% of Earth is covered with oceans, so more than likely that is where the
spy sat will end up. If not, the odds are still small it will actually hit someone.

Though there was that piece of Mars which went all that way just to hit
and kill a dog in Egypt in 1911....

Bet it was our fault, too.
