I'll give you that

Actually, I was never really a Clinton worshipper (I confess to be happy to see him get in the race in 1991 -- I liked Tsongas' policies better but doubted he'd win). And after Lewinsky/impeachment, I was happy to see him go.

I've worried that polls understate the latent Clinton fatigue out there. It may look reasonably close between Hillary and GOP opponents now, but after several months of reminding us about the CLintons, I think plenty of people would go, "Geez, not *that* again", and vote GOP. Even people who thought the GOP overreaction was worse than the CLintons' own foibles might still say no thanks to having them back and starting the cycle all over again.

Josh Marshall's post helped crystalize a sense of my own that my willingness to support a Hillary presidence is predicated upon Bill being out of the picture -- maybe on a 4 year long goodwill tour to Africa, maybe just a divorce, whatever. If she is really "they", I'm out.

First, a team presidency crosses my dynasty redline, looking more like the Kirschners in Argentina than anything I'd want to see in the US. Second, it just makes it all too obvious that they are about personal power rather than what's good for the country (where was Fightin' Bill during all the GOP misdeeds of the last 7 years? For that matter, how much time did they spend with each other until it became useful for getting back in the White House). Third, it entangles the Presidency in Clinton marital dynamics. If Bill really can't let go, what happens when Hillary and Bill want something different on a major political/policy issue? And if he loses, does that anger come out in him having another affair, which then feeds back into WH policy fights, and so on? No thanks.
