Some people are raised extremely suseptible to the moods of the people around them. If Dad, for instance, is happy, then everyone can be happy. If not, watch out. From a pre-verbal age they learn to be aware of others, when they are safe and when they are not.
As they get older that's regarded as "sensitive". And when they stop taking it personally it's "perceptive".
But they get almost magical in being able to read people and situations, from their own narrow point of view.
Comedians are an example of this. But we all know 'em.
And sometimes people can read there will be trouble because they are going to cause it. I can't count how many folks I've met who say they don't go looking for a fight but won't run from one. Somehow, some way they always find one.
(As Ma Bowser used to say when we were playing roughly, "Keep that up and someone's going to get hurt!". What she didn't add is that SHE would going to be the one hurting us.)
