Why does the far Right hate McCain?
Even if they disagree with him on doctrinal minutia, the man is a conservative by his own definition, has many conservative supporters, and is respected and admired by many liberals, even those like myself, who disagree with many of his positions. And in my opinion, he is the only Republican who has any chance of beating the Democrats in November.
