They were that !

I remember them well. I know I saw the show although I can't remember sure how or where. In Feb. '67 I was a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia and a student reporter for the Columbia Missourian. I remember covering an anti-war march. We didn't have time to watch the tube and there was only one in each dorm, in the commons room.

In May of '67, I dropped out of school, got married and followed my Air Force husband to England in September where we lived for 3 1/2 years. I'm wondering if I saw the Smothers Brothers in England. They imported some American TV shows and that one would have been right up their alley. The Brits have always been much looser and they don't have a 1st Amendment.

The English have always slid close to the edge on good taste. They had a full frontal male nude on TV while I was there. That did make some news but then they shrugged and got on with it. I can't believe this puritanical society actually emanated from the British. Boy howdy, did we fall far from the tree!

The British youth of the time were very anti-American and "get out of Vietnam" was their buzz-phrase. So the Smothers Brothers would have done well with them. The older generation were from the WWII generation and loved Americans because of our part in WWII.
