all women were that hard working and diligent but alas both sexes fall victim to becoming slugs now and then. Truth is that generally men in general probably work harder physically in the long run simply because they are more equipped for it and women work harder emotionally and are more giving to the offspring because of their biological slant.

My guess is it all is a wash. The wife and I have had numerous arguments over my contributions to the household and it almost always comes down to her perception that I do less in the raising of the children. Well duh! It's how we're designed. Our role as men is set up by nature to be one of nourishing and maintaining security and shelter for the brood, not the low level nurturing of the offspring.

She conveniently forgets my all day marathon outdoor cleanups or the rebuilding of the pool pump or the servicing of the air conditioner and cooler. I've probably saved the family hundreds of thousands of dollars by the work I've been able to do that some plumber or electrician would've charged premium rates for. I've maintained all the cars, built the family's computers and network. While doing all of this of course I've done laundry and dishes and cooked as well. Of course there's play time in between but I'll be damned anymore if I'll let her get away with the accusations of me not doing enough.

Go ahead and get your laugh but I know too many fat and lazy housewives that whine about the things in that joke as they lay around all day watching soap operas on tv and doing very little of the noble things listed. The average housewife is probably a combination of the two and more than acceptable but hardly some angel.
