I have read that the max shelf life for human tissue is a tad less than 200 years. Of course, that is based on current knowledge, so I wonder why smart people paint themselves into corners like that.
Regarding availability only for the rich, I think this is a virtual certainty. Immortality for everyman will be tied to cheap access to space and the ability to colonize the galaxy.
It will all happen if we survive, which is far more problematic than any technical progress required.
