Worry not...

The survey is listed under the following statement:

Older Americans new to Internet searching are most interested in arts and entertainment, culture and religion, according to a report released today by Generations on Line, a simplified Internet program used by more than 30,000 seniors in 1300 facilities nationwide.

We're not looking at a broad spectrum of seniors. What we're looking at in this survey is a very limited universe of seniors, and one that by definition (i.e. needing this Generations On Line program) is not that comfortable with the internet and technology.

There are millions of seniors that handle computers and the internet just fine, and are at home with new ideas and tech. You won't find them in this survey.

Keep in mind that much of the technological civilization around you was built by "The Greatest Generation," including putting people into space.
