Clocks

"Never be late again with super-precise clock. Clock will neither gain nor lose a second in more than 200 million years."

"The secret to making an extremely accurate clock is speeding up how fast it ticks. "If you make a mistake, you can know about that mistake very fast," said Jun Ye, who developed the atomic clock at JILA.

"Ye's clock has 430 trillion "ticks" per second."

Now how does he know it has 430 trillion "ticks"? And how does he know that's a "second"? What happens if a gravity wave passes through? Or there is a pause in them. And "space-time" is changed for a brief "second", or moment, or however long it takes the wave to move on.

I'm sure he does know, somehow, the man is credible, and other things along the same order have been done by other credible people. My GPS works very well, so the test of functionality has been passed.

I sure can't think of how they even start out. You get things vibrating even 6 or 8 times a second and my "counter" starts to lag, badly. That's several orders of magnitude away from even 1 trillion.

Only half in jest. I really wonder how that all works.
