re: Thoughts on "Dinosaurs: Return to Life?"

I work in a university research lab, inserting genes into plasmids, expressing the proteins in bacteria, purifying and analyzing the resultant proteins. I didn't even know this show was going to be on, but lucked out while flipping through channels. I watched the show on the mammoth, that was on just before this show (which I consider in imperative "prelude" to watching this show, as it shows the discovery of mammoth bone marrow; giving hope), and I am absolutely amazed by these shows. I work on genetically modifying plants myself (for increased production), and I had never though nor considered that modern-day mammals could possess "ancient" genes, that merely required activators or inhibitors on their promoter regions to express such genes. I am trying to find this on DVD right now so that I can share it with the other researchers at my university. I hope Discovery Channel reruns this show many times for others to see. It is a amazing and despite your opinion that it is "speculative," I see A LOT of reality and promise in this show. (btw, because I work in a research lab, I very much understood what they were doing. It makes perfect sense. The only problem that may arise might concern the presense of the right transcription factors (proteins that assist RNA polymerase in transcribing genes into mRNA)).
