All of this just to avoid admitting defeat.
"After surge, 140,000 troops to remain in Iraq. That figure will be 8,000 more than before the buildup."
Does anyone think this is sustainable? Does anyone think this is anything but an army of occupation, an attempt to force the will of the Bush Administration down the throats of the Iraqi people? Is this what Bush promised and that for which Congress voted?
And does anyone believe this is done for one more year so that Bush can blame someone else for "losing" his war?
I predict - The minute a responsible politician faces this situation realistically Conservatives will yell "surrender". That one's easy.
