Billions and billions of dollars spent training Iraqi cops, over 4 years of training Iraqi cops, and still they can't ensure the safety of their own election? And they had a police force and army when invaded. Bush disbanded that one.
Your average well-trained American policeman has 6 months of training and is out on his/her own. At the start of WWII some people had 10 WEEKS, 70 DAYS, training and were shipped out. The US had trained millions upon millions of troops and won WWII in less time. Trained officers, trained enlisted personnel, trained specialists, built ships, grew food and supplied electricity, water and sanitary systems at the same time. Built an atomic bomb, the B-29s to deliver it and invaded the islands for the air bases from which to take off. Think about it.Were Bush running it they would have been training people after the Japanese and Germans won the war.
The reality is that foreign troops are necessary to guarantee the outcome the occupying power wants.
CRAWFORD, Texas - "President Bush declined Saturday to promise more U.S. troop withdrawals from Iraq before he leaves office, and said there was a need for a strong military presence during Iraqi provincial elections in October."
"Strong presence needed for October vote in Iraq, he says."
Time to get out.
What kind of a "democracy" is this?
