Space/Science » in reply to IBM's Blue Brain - Simulating a Human Brain on a Supercomputer

Moore's Law; MIPS; Deep Blue; and when will we have AI?

The IBM 'Deep Blue' mainframe supercomputer
was capable of performing 3 million instructions per second.
Our brains can perform 100 million instructions per second [MIPS];
30 times more. [Any typos?]

If MIPS is directly related to Moore's Law, then
we can expect a supercomputer capable of 100 MIPS
by 2020-2024.

And if MIPS is directly related to 'intelligence' then we
already have AI.
We have mainframe supercomputers already that are
as "smart" as a mice.
And if you own the most expensive and most powerful PC
available on the market, you probably have an AI machine
as smart as a cockroach or ant.
