The Large Binocular Telescope achieves first 'binocular' light.
Sitting with the squirrels as its neighbors on Mount Graham in Arizona,
the LBT has achieved first binocular light.
See the story at
http://medusa.as.arizona.edu/ibto/press_release.htm
This means that the LBT now has ten times the light collecting ability
of the HST.
And what can it do with its new interferometry capability?
Spot Earth mass planets at habitablezones light years away?
