I'll admit I get annoyed at Star Wars more than I do at Trek. But damn its nice to just turn the brain off and watch the adventure. I mostly saw this with nostalgia as well as through my younger kids' eyes who have been eating up the franchise for the last couple of years. There were some really dumb things in the latest episode, but it wasn't enough to dampen my feelings for it as a whole. I look at this film as a base point to jump into new stories and it fulfills that role just fine.
