re: Human missions to Mars

Hmm:
"Rapp rightly believes any successful human mission to Mars must be preceded by a proven, long-term human presence on the Moon."

Rightly believes, huh?

Well, I still want to read the book. It's a bit expensive. I'll have to wait for an uncontrollable urge to buy it.

But generally I think a skeptic view is more useful than someone trying to promote their version of snake oil.

I think the most significant part of this book in my view is probably what he says regarding mining water on the Moon-
I would have zero hope if NASA is suppose to do this.

And if NASA attempts to do it, I think I might start demonstrating against NASA- like chaining myself to a booster or something.

And if the plan is for NASA to mine lunar water, the best hope for manned space exploration is if they don't find minable water.

But of course we don't know if there is minable water on the Moon.
Has anyone at NASA actually determine what would be minable water- if it's skating ponds, I think we are pretty safe.

2080. These guys are so depressing.

Suborbital travel is about the only hope at this point.
Gee, all we need is for NASA to get into the suborbital business, then we will be really screwed.
