Hi All

Not quite practical... yet! But very promising progress. Brian Wang reports...

SuperConducting SuperCompressed Silane

...the stuff hasn't been quenched to STP, but the team warmed it to 300 K (at 100 GPa) and it remained superconducting. Perhaps it will prove feasible to quench.

Brian waxes lyrical about what such super-conductors could do, but one cool idea is an all electric plane using superconducting storage rings for its power - powered up by solar (or nukes) and it'd be totally non-polluting.
