These are not dissidents. These are people resisting a foreign occupation. I am old enough to remember when China marched in and occupied Tibet. It was a fully independent country and the Chinese just conquered it. China had no history there, no interests there, no reason to be there, not even a self-serving one. But because of it's remote location, there was nothing anyone could do about it. But the US and other countries did protest much more than they are doing now.
We save our most vocal protests now for real threats to world peace, like Hugo Chavez.
