You're not listening. You and some others here are basically nuts on this subject. You cling to idiotic theoretical crap like the $3 trillion, and ignore what's actually going on in Iraq right now.
According to IraqBodyCount, in 2006, Coalition forces were responsible for about 600 of about 26,000 civilians killed. In 2007, Coalition forces accounted for about 1,200 of 24,000 civilians killed.
The rest were killed by the kind of people we're trying to defeat. These people will not evaporate from Iraq when we leave. The war will not end. The costs will not go away.
It's worth remembering that the war would have to go on another decade at the current civilian casualty rate to equal the number of Iraqis Saddam killed in his various wars and oppressions. I suppose that doesn't really matter anyway. The modern Left seems to believe that well-fed slavery is better than the pain of war.
I find it illuminating that your side gets even crazier about the war when things start looking better over there. But then for some it's never really been about the war, has it?
