that article doesn't even mention the unfunded pension liability for the 2 million or so government workers.
But they'll never really retire (the government will just raise taxes on their pension payouts forcing them to find work in the privete sector).
It is getting better though...Government workers are being weened of defined benefit pensions and encouraged to invest in defined contribution 403-b plans...
Still, there are all those soon to retire pensioners and already retired government workers and their pensions...
Completely unfunded...Estimated Liability something like $25 Trillion. I'm not sure if the payouts on those are indexed to inflation either...Maybe inflation will help here.
