Rendezvous?... Then Touche?...Then Prendrez?

Rendezvous is French for "close encounter" or meeting.
But Rendezvous does not mean docking or linkup in French.

"Rendezvous" was still adopted by NASA in the 1960's
as the term to describe both the approach and docking in space.

So why not call docking "touche"? French for contact?

And linkup or capture could becalled "prendrez"?
