The man is a first-class leftist. He stuck with that church not because he's an idiot, but because at bottom, he believes the same things. His philosophical background is right there for everyone to see. His economic and foreign policies are just what you'd expect from a leftist, as predictable as sunrise.

His supporters have rose-colored glasses thick enough to stop gamma rays. It's all about the "inspiration." I don't see the ability to inspire followers as a major qualification in a leader. If you make a list of all those leaders in the past hundred years who had a gift for inspiring large numbers of followers, it's not a good one.
