I've seen some snickering online about "peroxide and Tang" bombs. As someone who has worked with high-test peroxide as a rocket fuel, I can tell you that if you mixed very concentrated peroxide and granulated sugar the bitch would be KEEPING it from blowing up. In fact, it wouldn't be that easy keeping the peroxide alone from going off on you. But then if you're a suicide bomber, who cares if it blows up when you mix it?

I'm not sure it could bring a plane down. I don't know if the mix would detonate except under certain conditions (our job in the rocket business is to PREVENT this from happening), and a simple steam explosion would need to be confined in a thick metal "bomb" casing to create serious structure damage. It might make the cabin a very unpleasant place to be even in small amounts.
