How many of the roughly 100 billion galaxies in the known Universe
have been studied sufficiently to recognize the activities of a
Kardashev Type 3 civilization? And as I said in my last post, who
would be brave/brazen enough to announce that they had found
such a galaxy?
Have you seen galaxy NGC 5907? It seems to have the marks of
many Dyson Shells, yet not one paper on it has even mentioned
such a possibility as far as I know.
Did you know only a few hundred stars in this galaxy have been
looked at in any kind of detail since SETI began in 1960? The
Allen Telescopic Array in California is going to expand on that up
to one million stars eventually, but with 400 billion star systems
in the Milky Way galaxy, that will hardly be enough.
We are a long way from knowing what is really going on in our
galaxy, to say nothing of all the other star islands - that is a fact.
