Geek Speak » in reply to anyone here ever tried Maxthon browser?

You might like Maxthon...

...if you keep going back to IE, because Maxthon is based on the same browser engine as IE. The system requirements say you need at least IE6, which would be pretty strange for a standalone browser. Microsoft designed it that way, and intends the IE engine to be reused by third-parties.

I hadn't heard of it till I read your post, and got that info by visiting their Web site and cross-checking some Google hits. The additional features they've wrapped around the engine don't seem earth-shakingly novel, but you might find them useful.

BTW, it's a Chinese browser, and I confess that for a moment I thought of the notorious Chinese hackers who come out to play periodically, and wondered if it might be some kind of trojan horse. But it's had about 140 million downloads so far (they claim), and there wasn't a peep anywhere to suggest a problem. There are even rumors that Microsoft and/or Google are trying to invest in the company. I can't certify that it's safe, but I know of no reason to think otherwise.
