Flame » in reply to GOP Is 'Literally A Serious Danger To Human Survival’

Chomsky is a national treasure.

The standards will guide textbook purchases and classroom instruction over the next decade – and maybe not just in Texas. National publishers usually cater to its demands because the school board is probably the most influential in the country. Texas buys 48 million textbooks every year. No other state, except California, wields that sort of market clout.

Money doesn't talk, it swears. That any organization, ostensibly dedicated to education, institute these changes to textbooks simply because it is profitable, is one of the the most damning condemnations of capitalism as a philosophy I have ever seen.

The troglodytes who believe this nonsense at least are sincere, they actually are convinced it is all true, and should be taught to children. But the textbook publishers who yield to their demands do not, their actions are no more morally defensible than were I.G. Farben's contributions to Nazi death camp technology.
