"Politics is just the entertainment arm of industry."--Frank Zappa

Everyone in the world knows who bombed the site, and why. They don't seem to care much either, do they? The Syrians and the N Koreans certainly know, and the US and Israel know they know. And they know we know they know. The question we should be asking is why is everyone involved trying to keep it on the back burner, and why does it suddenly show up in Congress with all kinds of publicity.

My speculation on it is the Bush Administration is trying to work out a back room deal with the Syrians and NKs so they're trying to help them save face so they will deal (carrot). They also are dealing from a position of strength by demonstrating their ability to trash the site any time they please (stick). Apparently, someone in Congress wants to put the kabosh on these negotiations, and is rubbing Arab/NK noses in it to force them to break away or lose face, simultaneously embarassing the White House at the same time. Everone knows how those little brown and yellow people are so obsessed with saving face. It might be the Liberals trying to frustrate George Bush, or the Conservatives trying to stir up some more war fever. Either way, no one outside the Washington chattering classes really cares. The reactor is a smoking ruin, so the problem is resolved, for now.
