re: You know where and with whom Bush was enjoying himself with when Katrina hit?
Yep, he and Bush were here just a few miles from my home at Luke Air Force Base having cake together while people drowned.
Another interesting storyline is developing and should rattle the same folks that got so outraged about Reverand Wright. (I'm not holding my breath though). Seems that John McCain has his own spiritual advisor in the form of Pastor John Hagee. McCain even a week or so ago again welcomed his endorsement.
Here's the loving pastor's comments about the cause of Hurricane Katrina.
All hurricanes are acts of God, because God controls the heavens. I believe that New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God, and they are — were recipients of the judgment of God for that. The newspaper carried the story in our local area that was not carried nationally that there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came. And the promise of that parade was that it was going to reach a level of sexuality never demonstrated before in any of the other Gay Pride parades. So I believe that the judgment of God is a very real thing. I know that there are people who demur from that, but I believe that the Bible teaches that when you violate the law of God, that God brings punishment sometimes before the day of judgment. And I believe that the Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.
A few other choice words from this good Christian man:
It was the disobedience and rebellion of the Jews, God’s chosen people, to their covenantal responsibility to serve only the one true God, Jehovah, that gave rise to the opposition and persecution that they experienced beginning in Canaan and continuing to this very day.
Now without McCain's little phony press conference in New Orleans telling us all he'd have done things so differently, I could actually care less what political affiliations the man has or who his preacher is. I have more than enough evidence of his incompetence and hypocrisy from his actions as MY senator and years of watching his evolution. However, when supporters try to paint him as some caring moderate after the damage he's helped heap upon this country over the past decade or so, I just can't sit silently.
My friend in politics (a successful Republican by the way) was right about McCain when he told me there was something very offputting about the man when he met him at an event. At the time I was a McCain supporter and thought he'd just had a unique first encounter and that everyone had their off days. Turned out he was right on the money. I wouldn't vote the man as dogcatcher. Dogs deserve better.
