I look forward to those who will now begin demanding equal recognition for their particular favored relationships.

Inter-family relationships now must be awarded legal recognition and rights.

The majority has no legal right to restrict the rights of a minority:

Relationships that must be protected by CA under this ruling:

Cousin marriages
Father/daughter Father/Son marriages
Mother/son Mother/daughter marriages
Polygamy
Child/Child marriages

And the list goes on from there.

Who are others to interfere in the actions of two consenting people of the same species. Who are others to be concerned with what goes on in the privacy of others homes and doesn't hurt anyone? Who are others to create distinctions between "consenting humans" and their chosen relationships?

Why shouldn't John Doe marry fifteen wives if he wants to? Who are the majority to try to restrict him? Those teachers that run off with their students - who are the majority to interfere in their human relationship choices?

What about love? Who can judge what constitutes love? If two humans SAY they love each the other and wish to be called married isn't that enough?

And what of age of consent? That's an arbitrary thing as well isn't it? Why shouldn't we be like other enlightened nations and let 13 year olds marry? Who says wisdom about reproductive choices arrives with an epiphany at 18? Or 17? Or 19? On what legal or medical basis can such arbitrary rules be sustained in an enlightened state such as California after a child has reached puberty? Majority opinion? No way Jose!

Who says such wisdom arrives at ANY age? It's clear the justices on the California Supreme Court are still awaiting such wisdom as are, I well know, a number of Zoners here...

Yeah, I know: "It's not the same thing!" No, it is precisely the same thing and we can just wait. The precedent has been set and Pandora's box is now opened. It shall be interesting to see what other things come crawling out of the box to seek legal protection and recognition. Sure it will be slow at first...but then as the minorities become more outspoken and organized, their will will be done.
