Current Events » in reply to Bush takes a "Nazi swipe" at Obama

re: Obama

You must have misplaced a memo. The current Liberal Conventional Wisdom is that Iran is not a nuclear threat, hasn't been for five years now, and never will be. Maybe you should keep file cards.

That aside, it should not go unnoticed that Iran has been handled exactly according to liberal ideals: No military actions, and endless negotiations run mostly by the United Nations, and the Enlightened People of Europe. If there's failure to be assigned, you might want to look a little further than Bush.

From Bush's Knesset speech:

Some seem to believe that we should negotiate with the terrorists and radicals, as if some ingenious argument will persuade them they have been wrong all along. We have heard this foolish delusion before. As Nazi tanks crossed into Poland in 1939, an American senator declared: "Lord, if I could only have talked to Hitler, all this might have been avoided." We have an obligation to call this what it is -- the false comfort of appeasement, which has been repeatedly discredited by history.

I can think of quite a few people this would apply to. Carter would have been the first one to come to my mind, given his recent behavior. But only one of these people stood up and yelled "stop talking about me!"

Obama's own website declared his willingness to sit down with nations like Iran without preconditions. Take that as you wish. And he's got a heck of a lot of backing and filling to do before he can sell himself as a friend of Israel.
