Space/Science » in reply to News Flash: Michel Fornier will attempt his 40 km 'jump' this Monday.

The latest on Monsieur Fournier [correct spelling] and his jump attempt.

I got the latest from the Clagary Sun newspaper delivered this morning...

Weather and hardware permitting, Monsieur Fournier's
balloon will ascend from a field near North Battleford, Saskatchewan
at about 4:00AM, Mountain Standard Time [11:00AM GMT?], this
Monday morning, and his balloon will hopefully reach its peak altitude while it is still 'dark'.
However, he should see something few have seen:
a curved rainbowlike horizon near sunrise at 40 kilometres
altitude.

Unfortunately, the weather is bad here in Calgary, 300-400 miles
[480-640km] away, so he might not make out the lights of
Calgary, but he should make out the lights in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
and Edmonton, Alberta.

So, if you are up tonight, early morning, in this hemisphere,
see if Monsieur Fournier's website will have streaming video.
I doubt it.
Thank you, Merci, Raoul, for giving a link to his website
