My early education was at an extremely conservative school district in small town Oklahoma... and yet I wasn't converted either...

Again, do you HONESTLY believe the numbers can be explained by brainwashing? In college you can hang out with whoever you want, you can join the college republicans and be conservative and politically active...

How is this sophisticated brainwashing accomplished?
