Pity they dumped this soil already
I would have left it in the scoop for a day or two, in the sunlight, to see if the crystals disappeared, and if they did, whether they appeared to sublime or even (shock, horror, to melt).
Still, I'm sure they'll have plenty of scoops of the stuff over the next weeks and months and plenty of time to watch it and see what it does, let alone use all the equipment to test it...
