He's a master of comic satire. I quote his assessment of Fulford early in the piece: "Normally, I would ignore this kind of raving from an obscure hack. . . ." Typical Colbert: his offhand remark sets up the reality off of which he does his comic riffs. He doesn't believe Fulford, but what an opportunity for comedy!
