Articles of Impeachment for Clinton
You need to compare-and-contrast Kucinich's bill with the Republican effort against Bill Clinton to really put it into perspective. Fortunately, that's easy in a post, since there were only four articles in their bill of impeachment, and only two were approved by the Republican House. Dennis is way ahead on stats alone, 35 articles of impeachment occupying 65 pages and requiring something like 5 hours to read aloud on the House floor.
1. The president provided perjurious, false and misleading testimony to the grand jury regarding the Paula Jones case and his relationship with Monica Lewinsky.
2. The president obstructed justice in an effort to delay, impede, cover up and conceal the existence of evidence related to the Jones case.
Summary from WashPost, full text there as well. It all fits on one Web page.
Kucinich is tilting at windmills, as we all know. It's too late to go through the process, and Democrats have shown a curious reticence to press the matter since getting back Congress. In fairness I'd say that some of Kucinich's points seem a little weak...but if they ever were brought to a vote, the same 50% approval would result in 17-18 articles of impeachment. If it were ever seriously considered by the Judiciary Committee. Which it won't be.
