Debates will be interesting...

Neither of these guys is an intellectual and policy powerhouse. At least Obama is consistently leftist. I have no idea what the hell McCain would do as president. He's pretty much in the Democratic camp on a lot of things (energy and environment are two of them, sadly), and doesn't seem to have a grip on why he's holding Republican positions on other things. Remember Nixon and wage-price controls?

I suspect the result of a series of debates and informal meetings for these two will be a lot of people wondering how the hell we ended up with these two. I know a lot of Republicans already feel that way.

Speaking of Nixon, I'm still seeing a "Nixon-Kennedy" thing going here. For a real insight, read the texts of the recent speeches made by McCain and Obama after Obama landed the nomination. Then watch them both on video.

Talk about mental whiplash.

It's going to be depressing if your "intangibles" win this election after all, with ideas and principles coming over the finish line long after sundown. You might want to save this post for a good gloat in November!
